Nomination Guidelines
Please read the following information before completing your nomination form.
What is a nomination?
The Friendly Societies Act of 1992 allows you to choose an individual(s) to receive the value of policies you hold with National Friendly, upon your death, to a maximum of £5,000.
If the value of your policies with us is over £5,000, we’ll use the nomination form to pay the first £5,000 and the extra will be paid in line with our normal death claims process.
Why should I make a nomination?
A nomination allows us to pay out up to £5,000 far quicker without waiting for probate or letters of administration to be granted. No legal documentation other than a certificate of death (or other proof of death acceptable to the Society) will be required. It is useful if you want to ensure payment is made immediately to a particular individual(s).
Who can I nominate?
- You can nominate anyone providing they are not an employee or officer of National Friendly (unless they are a family member), a business, organisation or charity.
- You can have more than one nominee. We’ll divide the payout equally between nominees unless you tell us to do otherwise by stating the percentage of the claim value for each nominee. Should one of the named nominees die before you and you don’t update your nomination, their share will go in equal parts to the other nominee(s). If the only nominee dies, the money will go to your estate.
- We recommend that nominees are over sixteen, as a nominee under that age can’t give a valid receipt for the money.
