National Friendly, a longstanding mutual society with its headquarters in Bristol, has introduced a new healthcare product designed to make medical support more accessible and affordable for UK residents.

Known as Friendly Doctor+, the service offers confidential, around-the-clock access to qualified UK GPs via phone or video call — all for just £5 a month.

The launch of Friendly Doctor+ reflects National Friendly’s continued commitment to supporting public health. Established in 1868, the organisation has a long history of helping members navigate healthcare and insurance challenges.

With modern pressures on the NHS and increasing difficulty in securing timely GP appointments, this new product can complement the NHS and aims to provide a convenient alternative that fits into busy lives at an accessible price.

For a modest monthly fee, Friendly Doctor+ offers 24/7 GP access for individuals and families living at the same UK address.

Users can consult with a doctor at any time — whether early in the morning, after work, or in the middle of the night — without having to face crowded waiting rooms or long queues.

The service covers a wide range of health needs. In addition to general diagnosis and advice, it provides private prescriptions and referrals, support for long-term condition management, mental and physical health guidance, physiotherapy, access to second opinions and specialist input, and a £3,000 accidental death benefit.

Friendly Doctor+ is available to UK residents aged 18 to 80, excluding those living in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man. The product is positioned as a practical solution for individuals and families seeking peace of mind and flexible access to healthcare, anytime and anywhere.

With this launch, National Friendly aims to expand its offering to meet modern healthcare demands, blending its rich heritage with innovative services that put patients first. The friendly society also has a range of insurance products, from income protection to savings plans.
