We know that as people become more health-conscious, it is becoming increasingly common for them to ask about insurance policy benefits before signing up. This is a positive trend that is likely to continue as people become more aware of the importance of health and well-being.

Since the pandemic, the NHS has been under a lot of strain. Waiting times are longer than ever for consultations and treatment, and it’s becoming increasingly hard to see a doctor when needed.

That’s why it’s more important than ever to be talking to your clients about Friendly GP, which is a free added benefit to our My PMI, Over 50s Life Cover, Income Protection and Accident Only Income Protection policies.

It’s our virtual GP service through which members have on-demand access to GPs for diagnosis, advice, and treatment to improve general health and wellbeing. It can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing the following:

  • GP telephone consultations - Unlimited advice, reassurance, diagnosis, or medication when your clients need it.
  • Video consultations - The online eConsultation service enables clients to have an online video consultation in the comfort of their own home or place of work. The service is available 8.00am-10.00pm, 7 days a week, excluding UK bank holidays.
  • Private prescriptions - Should the doctor feel that the client would benefit from prescription medication, they can have the medication delivered to them at any UK address or sent to a pharmacy of choice.
  • Open referrals - If the doctor thinks the condition requires further investigation or treatment, they can issue an open private referral letter to enable clients to access the health care they need.

For our Income Protection members, Friendly GP also offers mental health services including counselling sessions, health and wellbeing information and money advice to further support members.

All of these services can be accessed via an online portal, meaning your clients can easily get round the clock advice and care, all day, every day.

Here is a testimony from one of our members about a recent experience using Friendly GP: “I used the service after struggling with a blocked ear for over a week. I was dreading calling my GP surgery and thought I would try Friendly GP. I called at 11.30am and by 2.00pm that day, a GP called me back. He was very empathetic and asked several questions before suggesting a treatment.

He emailed the prescription, and I was presented with the spray immediately at a reasonable cost. I was so happy I had called Friendly GP and started the medication so there was no need for me to wait in the horrible Monday morning queue at my GP surgery.

Friendly GP can provide additional coverage and protection that your clients may not have otherwise considered. They can save people money, provide more value for their money, and give them peace of mind knowing they are well protected.

We’d love for your clients to make the most of this great policy benefit. So, if you have any questions about Friendly GP or other policy benefits, we offer prospective members, please contact your BDM contact, or call us on 0333 014 6244.
