Stoke Bishop Cricket Club receive sponsorship from National Friendly
This year, we’re delighted to be sponsoring the Stoke Bishop Cricket club’s Under 13s A team! Robert Richards, a parent of one of the team members, spoke to us about what a difference this makes for all the boys involved.
“This is the second year that National Friendly have supported our squad. Last year we were able to purchase shirts for all the players and have National Friendly’s logo celebrating their 150th. These shirts have now been handed down to the U13b squad at Stoke Bishop and so both they (11-12 year olds) and the U13A (12 -13 year olds) will look very smart in their sponsored shirts.
The provision of the shirts make a huge difference to the team as a whole as it helps to create a team club identity. Both players and their parents are very much appreciative of the support.
The U13A team is ably led by its Manager Glenn Barker, who stepped up to the plate a number of years ago when there was a lack of provision for club cricket in the area. Since its inception in 2015 the team have gone from strength to strength, from the days of barely having a team to a squad of 20+ players and a waiting list!
This year the boys will be competing in their league against other local clubs and in two cup competitions, the Vitality cup and the U13 Nations cup. We are already through to the next round of the Vitality cup and look forward to the challenge of Knowle in the next week or so.
Unbeaten so far, we are hoping for an even better season than last year.”
